[dropcap]Ingrid[/dropcap] Russell was born in Graz, Austria, in 1956. Her parents migrated to Australia in 1960 and settled in Sydney’s west.
From an early age she was always painting, drawing and creating crafty objects, and continued this fascination through high school.
Ingrid’s work is represented in private collections in Australia and Europe. She regularly exhibits in group exhibitions in the Blue Mountains and elsewhere in NSW. Her work has been published in The Australian Artist Magazine. In 2007 she won the people’s choice award in the Annual Friends of Braemar Exhibition and her work has been regularly chosen as a finalist in the Blacktown Art Exhibition, achieving a Commended award in 2009. Also in 2009, Ingrid held a very successful solo exhibition at The Event Horizon Gallery in Katoomba.
Ingrid works mainly in acrylics in more abstract and contemporary styles, focusing on colour, line and perspective. “I am interested in the juxtaposition of 3D and 2D and the optical illusion of perspective on the picture plane. I love to play with colour and often let the painting take its own course, my hand being the conduit for my imagination, and I will often look at a work for days before it deciding what it wants to be.” Presently Ingrid is working on a series lossely titled “Looking Up’ focussing on the canopies of Australian gum trees.
She has also created a line of hand crafted jewelry and ceramics under the label Iggiruss Designs
“I am a teacher and artist living and working in The Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. I have been painting for 18 years.

My works are represented in private collections in Australia and Europe. I am mainly self-taught, but have participated in numerous workshops over the years. I hold degrees in Fine Art and Visual Culture and a Diploma of Teaching. My exhibition in 2009 “Dreaming” was held at The Event Horizon Gallery in Katoomba.
