[dropcap]Painting[/dropcap] mostly in oils, my subjects have ranged from depicting outback Australian towns, landscapes, still life and a series of cows! A moving adventure.
I concentrated initially on capturing the beauty, tragedy and sometimes humour of Australia’s crumbling outback communities. In painting these rural townships I always felt for those who had made up these communities and the lives they had led there. These paintings proved to resonate with viewers and a dedicated following was formed.
Painting regularly with other Blue Mountains’ artists has widened my choice of subject matter and prompted me to explore and experiment with various ideas and interpretations of the landscape.
I have been fortunate in winning various awards over the years, the last being in 2018 – judges have included Anthony Bond OAM (retired curator AGNSW), Luke Scibberas, Warwick Fuller, Dr David Middleton, David Beschi, Mathew Lynn, Richard Perram (BRAG), Rilka Oatley (BM C.C. curator) amongst others and my work has been acquired in national and international private and corporate collections.
I was a founding member of the artists’ collective, Gallery Blackheath in 2001 finally departing in September 2017 to follow, for the time being, an independent path.
