aSimon Hearn is a Blue Mountains architect at Sunlab Architecture and a sculptor whose work is exhibited at Gallery H among others. Simon is also the newly appointed Company Secretary for the Blue Mountains Creative Arts Network as well as having the portfolio of Membership for the organisation.
Without the community commitment and hours of voluntary time and effort by people like Simon, and by people like Meg Benson and Ian Brown, events such as “Encountering the Wild” could not happen.
As with any of those more involved with BMCAN, also being a recognised and popular artist in his own right gives him that unique perspective that helps him with both his art and his place in the community.
Simons work embraces the fundamentals of the sculpting discipline in that he explores the relationship of form to space, the juxtaposition of geometric and organic, the beauty of texture as an aspect of his art, but Simon in exploring these aspects of each sculptural work never fails to elevate each peice to a higher level.
Chartered Architect of 20 years, Director of Sunlab Architecture, artist and craftsperson, with experience in alternative technology projects, metal fabrication and 3D projects
He is an advocate for community engagement and participation in the arts and believes in creativity as a form of social activism. Lives in Katoomba.
