Nobody knew where it would go when multi award-winning writer Georgina Luck asked about BMAN auspicing a Bendigo Bank grant for a short film in April 2016.

The Last Babushka Doll is a short film drama set in the Blue Mountains, with a predominantly local cast and crew. The film follows a paramedic’s most confronting case – with seven seconds to decide whether to follow the rules and prolong a patient’s suffering or risk his career by ending the patient’s pain.

G Luck Productions is an independent film, theatre and literary production company managed by award-winning Writer/Producer Georgina Luck

A special Mountain’s showing at Mount Vic Flicks in May 2017 enabled the many locals that took part in the production to admire their fine work.

Georgina advises that the film has had some terrific outcomes. After premiering at the St Kilda Film Festival in May 2017, the film was officially selected into international film festivals in Byron Bay (October 2018), San Jose (in Silicon Valley) (October 2018) and YoFiFest, the Yonkers Film Festival in New York (November 2018).

Congratulations Georgina!

As one of the volunteer Directors on our Bendigo Community Bank Board, we are so pleased that the sponsorship helped local creatives showcase their talents to a wider stage (no pun intended!)

When we began the long process of opening a Bendigo Community Bank Branch in Katoomba (and now an Agency in Blackheath) we were motivated by the knowledge that by the public changing their bank to Bendigo, it ensures the bulk of profits are shared with this community for projects such as this. We have returned over $500,000 to date and this grows every month.

    Congratulations Georgina and BMCAN!
